Well, Lenova made the IBM computers for years, IBM provided marketings and brand and customer service and quality assurance.

As such, I have heard since IBM quit involvement that the quality assurance has gone down. That people are getting crappy computers, while that was a very rare event before. They are still one of the better manufacturers though.

For laptops (What I Was looking at) I beleive that Fujitsu is currently one of the best.

I was using the chat support. They have it in writing that I reinstalled the OS.

Thanks for the info. If I had been considering HP, I wouldn't be now.
Also, if you are planning on installing your own OS, make sure whoever you buy from won't screw you out of the warranty for doing it.

Lucky you. We have IBM where I work, and their support sucks, as do their motherboards. We had to go through a major project to replace boards that were going bad whenever someone used a USB port.

Cali, I know you're new here, but I just want to let you know that the forum does, in fact, support multiple paragraphs per post.

I am on my third HP between my wife and I (None went bad we just upgarded and gave the older one to our daughter)

But HP support is teh Suxor!

I was having a problem with Medieval II Total War which ended up after 3 days of trying to be a direct X issue, they gave me the "best" support answer..REFORMAT MY PC..I didnt but couldnt believe that was the answer I was given

I abhor the lack of support and also abhor having to speak ma foreign dialect to get my problem across to them

Yeah, I know, I just can't be bothered with all that editing.

Yep. My HP 410e was great, until the DVD/CD drive went bad a few months after the warranty ended. In the old days I would've tried to squeeze a little "sympathy service" out of them, and might've gotten a discounted replacement. They'd do things like that just because it helped their image and helped them with quality control from their suppliers. No more.

Just a little question - what are you supposed to do if the HD crashes ?

Edit : Or for that matter, wanted to replace the current with a larger ?

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
