    That tv series, saw it over the last two weeks, and think it was very good. Just one thing - did it really cost 100 million USD?

    I mean it was well-made without doubt, and I enjoyed it, but what did they spend those 100mio for, since there were hardly any big battle scenes, and otherwise only some scenes seemed to need more effort (like the triumph of Caesar, camp of legio XIII, generally buildings in Rome).

          It was the settings, IIRC. Marble isn't cheap.

                The interior of the houses took a lot of effort to make it look real. I believe they really used plaster and paint etc to make them. It sure looks more genuine than had it been some star wars-type computer background

                    Yeah, great attention to detail. To defray some of the immense costs in that, it was jointly produced and financed by HBO and the BBC. They knew it'd cost an arm and a leg, so both went in on it together.
