                            Usually our family goes down to visit my wife's parents, and they serve pork roast and black-eyed peas for New year's dinner. This year my wife contracted an intestinal virus so we decided not to make the trip because of the risk of exposing her elderly parents to the virus.

                              We kept it easy. A deli tray of sandwiches on croissant rolls, black-eyed peas, and a tray of whatever those cold shrimp are called. I don't like them really. Fried or scampi, yes.
