So not only does there need to be 2/3 support in the Senate, but also enough for an amendment removing Section 9's ex post facto limitation?
    Unbelievable!

also enough for an amendment striking down the ex post facto limitation?
Nope, because no new law was passed.

Who ever said Congress would have to make up a new law or crime to impeach Bush?

I think everyone should read up on the Johnson Impeachment.

This whole thing is nutter stuff. The war (in Iraq) was a screwup, but one that multiple people made, including most of the Democrats (the same Demos voted for this one, who voted against Gulf War one). Thinking that Bush would lie about WMD is silly. If he knew they weren't there, then he would know that it would come to light. Similarly if he knew that we would have a sticky mess of an insurgency/civil war since the Iraqis are basically rude tribesmen, then he would have prepared for it. He was naive and stupid. Not dishonest.

Heck, look at the nutter Democrats who think the 9-11 was a conspiracy of the White House. Buncha pacifist fruitcakes.

Bush impeached, Cheney dies in office. Step up a Gerald Ford-like figure to restore the dignity of the office.

            Sounds like a plan.

Maybe he just didn´t care if there were any WMDs in Iraq but used the WMD argument nevertheless
because he wanted the war for personal reasons (after all Saddam tried to kill his Daddy ) and/or oil
and believed he would get away with it if no WMDs could be found as the Iraqis would greet the american troops as liberators
and only a short time after the war the americans would have established a new peaceful society in Iraq
so that most people who heard about the missing WMDs would say
"O.K., no WMDs in Iraq, but it doesn´t matter as Bush was successful in turning Iraq from a terrorist hellhole into a western democracy where people live in harmony and all this with only few losses of american lifes"

Your plans need adjusting. Cheney needs to die first. Then a new Ford-like VP can be selected.

They way you suggested, Palosi would become President.

yes, the order would be Cheney replaces Bush and a Ford-like Vp was selected, then Cheney dies. He doesn't look at all well.

Or Cheney dies and is replaced first, and then Bush is impeached, which I think is the order that got Ford into the VP job.

Nixon's first VP was caught up in some kind of scandle, and he was forced to resign.

How about Condie as a president? She's #5 and very unlikely to ascend,

Gets me wondering - there's a list of order of succession with 17 people on it. How probable is it that the president and with him 16 people die? Must be from old ages when it was possible that during a land war many members of the government are cut off from the capital so they had to find someone to ascend to presidencyin case of a POTUS fatality.

You must have missed the Tom Clancy novel where the evil Japanese crashed a plane into the Capitol during the State of the Union speech and, as a result, Jack Ryan became President.

Jack Ryan? Isn't he a mere CIA agent?

No...by that book, he was head of the CIA...or, I dunno, maybe something higher. IIRC, the book was Rising Sun -- it was about then, I gave up on the series...for obvious reasons.

I gave up after my first attempt - Red Storm Rising. Called one of his better works I thougt he might just not be my kind of author.
