I don't get it - AFAIR the Constitution very explicitly limits impeachment to "high crimes and misdemeanors." Perjury would technically count (as we learned in '98), but simply cherry-picking intelligence and exaggerating a threat in order to start an initially popular war for myriad ulterior motives does not actually violate any law.

If the Constitution provided for impeachment based on "boneheaded policy decisions" they should flay Bush alive for all I care, but it doesn't.
    Unbelievable!

      Re: Will Bush be impeached??

No because the Congress gave him approval. If they impeached President Bush, they would also have to do the same to each other as well. Also just for clarification, impeachment is just like charging someone with a crime. It takes a simple majority in the House to do it, so if the Democratics really wanted to they could impeach President Bush, they just would not have the votes to convict him in the Senate.

Congress is able to impeach the VP too. If they went for a full court press we'd have President Pelosi.

Please see my post above, and I will make the point again in this post, Impeachment is like charging the President or other eleceted leaders with a crime. When you impeach an eleceted leader it does not lead to their removal from office. They have to be tried in the US Senate and their has to be 2/3 vote to convict. If they vote to convict, then the President is removed from office.

Well, honestly the dems are too spineless, too few, and too divided. That and the guy's gone in two years anyway. By the time the process would get anywhere, he'd be out of office.

The dems probably have wet dreams about doing that to any repub president and vice versa, but since there are no crime, it's all wet dreams.

Oh, I'm sure there's plenty of crimes. The trouble is, once you start it up, every president will be impeached for something. Let's face it, Clinton was basically impeached over nothing.

Yeah, but how many american presidents did actually kill opponents or used chemical warfare against rebellion states ?

This is the thread about impeaching Bush, not the one about hanging him That being said, I fully support impeachment. The only way to truly know how much he knew before this all started is to have a trial and force people to testify and declassify some documents. I don't necessarily support his removal from office (by this method). Cheney

If a President knowingly lied to the American public and Congress about a nature of a war, it would be a high crime.
