The Spanish woman had received fertility treatment
A 67-year-old Spanish woman is reported to have given birth to twins according to hospital officials in Barcelona, becoming the world's oldest mother.

The woman, whose name has not been revealed, became pregnant after fertility treatment in Latin America.

She gave birth to the twins, who have been placed in an incubator, by caesarean section early on Saturday.

It was the woman's first birth and she is expected to spend a few days in the Sant Pau hospital recovering.

A spokesman for the hospital, which specialises in high-risk births, said that both the mother and her babies were doing well.

The woman is one year older than Romanian Adriana Iliescu who gave birth in January 2005 to a baby girl.

She too had been pregnant with twins but one of her babies died in the womb.

Being an orphan at 15 years old
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

You don't call them orphan if their parents die of natural causes.

Then what are they called in such case ?

seems not to care about the reason why the parents are dead.

Edit : DF, in some awkward way you expressed why I think this sucks.

If a person of legal age loses their parents to an accident, do you call them orphans?

Maybe it's about underage and without parents really so you might be right.

I don't think I'm wrong saying that average lifetime for a spanish women isn't much higer than 80, so there is a high probability that the parents will die before the children reaches legal age.

I don't think you're wrong saying that either. I'm reflecting the word "orphan" on a semantic level. Scared?

The 80 years is at birth. Once you have safely made it through the first 67 years without health problems then the probability of living to beyond 80 is of course higher than it was when you were new-born and the first 67 years were unknown.

That said, when her children are 13 she will be 80... that will be weird for them!

Yup, I prefer understandable things like imaginary numbers, sql queries and C++

You are quite right, but the possibility that the parents will be there at say their 20 bd not to say 40 year bd is probably slightly lower than for children with say 30 old parents.

BTW, I checked, and the life expectancy for women at birth is 83 years in Spain.

I know that at least in Denmark statistics are produced with the life expectancy for a N year old person. Interesting/funny to read .

Merriam-Webster, Princeton University and University of Cambridge disagree with you.
