  • Seen any good movies lately?

I discovered, to my surprise, that the films I enjoyed watching the most recently were "geopolitical conflict" movies. I went with a few friends to watch Blood Diamond and couldn't get over how good it was. Last year, it was Syriana and Munich and the year before it was Hotel Rwanda.

All good movies, thought-provoking and compelling, with a careful moral balance to show even the most destructive of powers have understandable motivations.

What movies have lit your fire recently?

    I your name.

I liked Hotel Rwanda and Syriana, but in both cases i thought they could have been better. Can't quite put my finger on it but there was something missing there.

I haven't seen either Munich or Blood Diamond but i'm planning to.
    What?

Pirates of The Caribbean. Jack Sparrow cracks me up.

              I second that

Alinestra, did you see 'Traffic', by the same guy who did 'Syriana'. It was pretty good.

And there's that Bob de Niro movie about the CIA. Haven't seen the reviews yet.

The Departed is very good, also very intensive, not really a pop-corn sorta movie if you know what I mean.

Kabul Express. Unrealistic, but still watchable.
