The most elaborate hoax on the internet?

While surfing the magical thing that is teh interwebs, I came across this place. They even have a forum and everything. Now either this is the most elaborately constructed hoax on the internet, or these people are on to something. The owner has a blog, where he claims to have achieved reproducible results. I'm sceptical.

What sayeth the forum?

The common bond or cause that draws them together is simple. All have a belief that (1) man's Inner Self is neither understood nor fully expressed in our contemporary society, and (2) this Inner Self has capabilities to act and perform mentally and materially to a degree unknown and unrecognized by modern science. These people whose prime avocation is to read, talk, think, discuss, and participate in anything "psychic" or "spiritual." This is all that is needed for membership. Perhaps you are in the club and didn't realize it.

That's a very vague definition. Using that, me and most Hindus and yogis would also be members of that club. I'm talking about things which are a bit more specific, like the stuff they describe in their articles.

Oh... that place! You know, I'm kind of related to it, though this connection involves a few random things like a blue-haired crossdressing elf, a telepathic banana, a few drug-induced hazes, and other things that will royally piss Bill3000 off if he happens to read this thread . Anyway, it seems they always were something of an introverted community (for instance, they don't allow outsiders to idle on their IRC channel - the horror!). Now that their forum doesn't accept new registrations anymore - and will be made completely read-only in a month, in fact - it doesn't seem that this particular website will be playing a big part in anything anymore.
