I think the fact I said I would like a small apartment as opposed to living with roomates is what pushed Chicago over NYC.

And LA!?!?!?!?!?

That is one of the LAST places in this country I would move to live in, somewhat after Orlando, Detroit, and Garry, Indiana.

Not really downtown as much as Midtown. Though Midtown also has most of the clubs and bars. And is where the gay neighborhoods are (ie, its the liberal part of town). Buckhead is known for its restaurants and expensive homes.

A lot of the rest of it is very suburban. And aside from Midtown and Little Five Points isn't very pedestrian friendly.

As for 'soul' less, some have referred to it as the new Motown. Oh, you meant another kind of soul?
