I called HP support and this fella from perhaps a middle east accent tels me So sorry, HP does not support games and therefor it is out of the terms of support.
So I tell akmed or whatever his name is he is full of it, my pc wont read any programs period and freezes up, wont eject the Disc I have to restart
He then does a 180 degree turn and says ok, do you have any important data on your pc?
Hello i tell him, yes been installing for a week all programs on it.
He tells me I have to do a complete install from scratch.
I ask him is he sure and he says yes this is the reply that will work
He didnt have that before and only after I told him it was a game but anything
When doing a Google search on this message it is all over the board with various softwar installed from AOL to Office to games and the answers a wide across the board.
I think i will recall the HP and see if I get an American or someone who has some sort of technical knowledge.
Grrrrr

I had never heard of this before.
I can now play the games that crash on the 2 internal roms on my usb external roms.

I am back on technical support and awaiting next hope to jump through

I dont think calling again is going to work. Their default answer is just reinstall windows. As far as the error message that is a pretty general error and I have seen it on a lot of programs before.Originally posted by Grandpa Troll

Is it happening all the time? Does it happen with all your games or just one? The only thing I can think of is uninstall the game, reinstall it and download the lattest updates for the game.

Ok
I can play any of the games in question problem free on either of the two external roms
but nothing work on internal roms
EEII,SWAT 4 & Expansion, Axis & Allies to name a few have the runtime error
Then the pc freezes up and you can eject or do anything, except restart it (The pc)
Updated to death no go, reinstalled same twice on each nada, zip zilch
All these games require a CD to play

if you go to msconfig, you can also do a selective start up to see if some program is interferring with the hardward. I would also try to reinstall the driver for your internal CD-ROMS

That's one gripe I have with Windows-based tech-support. Reinstallation is a fucking asinine solution. A solution involves finding the problem, and fixing it, not simply taking the approach of "nuke it from orbit". Unless, of course, these people think that Windows is the problem. What happened to the days when the tech support guy actually knew the system and how to fix it?Originally posted by Jack_www

Because they are cheep and hire people who only know basic trouble shooting, and in the end just tell you to reinstall. Some times though when your system gets really screwed up, the only option you have is to reinstall windows. That has happened to me once.Originally posted by aneeshm
