  • Decisions decisions! Deserted island game

So.. you're on an island, never to be found again. But you can take some stuff with you. Assuming you can watch movies there, but you can only watch movies based on one actor.

That is, you can have the whole catalogue of movies where this one actor is in. So.. who are you going to choose?

I'm going with either Harrison Ford (you'd get star wars, blade runner, indiana jones, patriot games, apocalypse now (yes he is in it!!))... and set of other pretty decent movies as well.

OR Al Pacino OR Robert De Niro.

    What about you?

Also, naming pornstars is excluded, otherwise I'd take like Jenna Jameson or something like that.

I'd say Burton, but then I'd have to watch 1984.

Steiger, but then I'd have to watch Oklahoma.

        Maybe Uma??

I have to go with pacino if against de niro, too.. I mean, with de niro you only get godfather II, where with pacino you get them all. Plus you get... tons of great movies, serpico, carlito's way, heat, scarface..

I think you need at least one good saga.. pacino gives you godfather, ford gives you star wars. You really need something like that if that's the rest of your life.

VetLegion, ok you bring your CD, but unfortunately there's no computer so.. you could have brought movies but instead you brought a disc you can.. use as a mirror. Congrats.

Harrison Ford is definitely a solid choice. I'd also put Tom Cruise up there, despite how much I dislike him as a person.

The best bet, though, would probably be to choose a secondary actor that's been in a wide range of movies instead of a star. Someone like Robert Duval, for example.

Edit: Sean Connery's got to be up there too.

kontiki, oh definitely the best woudl be to find a second rate actor who is in all great movies. Duval is a great choice, I didn't even think of him.. he has tons of great movies on his list.

I'd take an actor in movies that I despise (or which make me question the good of humanity), so as to keep me aware of the good points of being completely removed from society. Hmmmm... Pauley Shore?

Either that or someone who is in documentaries about survival skills. Can't name any off the top of my head though.

I think the safest bet is Clint Eastwood

I'd think, given the conditions of teh question, you'd want teh maximum number of great films across a variety of genres. So it's not even a contest: Gene Hackman.

You get action films: Bonnie and Clyde, The French Connection, The French Connection II, Crimson Tide, and a bazillion more.

You get thrillers: No Way Out, The Firm, Absolute Power

You get Westerns: Unforgiven, The Quick and the Dead

You get War films: A Bridge Too Far, Uncommon Valor

You get Comedy: Young Frankenstein, Get Shorty

You get my favorite -- classic 70s neo-noirs: The Conversations, Night Moves

You even get heatwarming dramas: Hoosiers, I Never Sang for My Father, Twice in a Lifetime

You get cheesy-fun blockbusters: Superman, Superman II, The (original) Poseiden Adventure,

You even get indies: Heist, The Royal Tennenbaums

And at least 60 more films on top of those.

                    Gene Hackman
