  • Ripping and Converting

This is in regard to MP3's.

Do you rip and/or convert using Stereo or Joint Stereo?
    I use the Stereo option.

Ripping from audio CDs? I convert to either FLAC or ogg, depending on what I'm going to use the audio for, never to mp3. For archival, nothing beats FLAC, and for casual listening, ogg outdoes mp3 by a wide margin.

Sorry if I didn't answer the OP's question.

I know flac is good but the question is, if you convert, either after dl or at ripping, is your setting at Stereo or Joint Stereo.
This may apply to flac too, but I don't have experience with flac.

FLAC is mathematically proven to be lossless - you'll not need to worry about anything whatsoever when converting to it, it preserves all data there is. This applies to ripping from CDs - that's what my experience is limited to.

In the interests of honesty and full disclosure, I must admit that I don't know the difference between stereo and joint stereo, but I do know that whatever it is, FLAC is not affected by it, thanks to its losslessness.

I have a question for You. I have original cds, but I copy files from them on my computer, so I don't have to insert a cd each time I want to listen to a song or drag dozens of cds with me everywhere. However, if I change my system, my licence is lost. How can I get rid of this problem?

                            I've never seen that, Heresson.

People? Little help here for Heresson.

I don't know if this is applicable, but if you can, try ripping to some non-DRM format (like the ones I suggested).
