Surely this is the right thread to bring up this clip.

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all.

No doubt that Bush's rep was somewhat deserved. But the point is, Nancy and the Dems promised us better.

Of course they did, they're politicians! And they may yet be better, despite this bozo.

There are plenty of Democrats who believe in God, in case you haven't noticed.

And believing in God certainly is not an example of stupidity, so that is not one of the reasons why many Republicans are attacked.

Likewise there are plenty of Republicans that don't beleive in God. It just so happens that Repugs are associated with asshat Religous righties hence the moniker of stupid.

Their choice. Anytime the Republican party wishes to sever that particular tie, I'm all ears.

And when Bush did, at least that was the new cycle report during the last election how he spit on the Religious right, nary a cry of woohoo time to look at the Repugs now!

'course I don't blame you for that the Repugs likewise have abandoned any positions that are near and dear to me like fiscal responsibility.

They have to show some sustained... abstinence, let's say, from the powerful drug of pandering to the RR for me to really be interested. That, and the whole fiscal responsibility thing.

The problem is that doing those two things probably makes them quite a minority party. My views, on both topics, are minority views.
