  • John F. Kennedy Falling Into Oblivion ?

I waited to see, and no thread posted on anniversary of JFK's death yesterday.

so? He was a crappy President.
Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

Hey, he wasn't all bad - he nailed Marilyn Monroe.

But seriously, wasn't he the first telegenic president? He beat Nixon by looking more presidential (calm, cool & collected as opposed to sweaty & nervous) in the debates, right?

Actually, he won because of dead people voting Democratic in Chicago.

                      Kennedy ehh.

He had balls. Put us close to nuclear war. But he stood up to the Soviets. In hindsight, that seems pretty cool. Wouldn't have been as cool had they nuked us. . But it wasn't all that impressive. We removed our missiles from Turkey afterall. But I feel he made the right move. Other people wanted to attack the sites outright, which would have been a mistake. Smart use of the navy

                      Peace Corps. Pretty cool.

                      man on the mooon. cool.

As Dis points out, he was a good, but not great President.

He brought a vigor to the White House and a pride to the nation that wouldn't be seen again until the Reagan Administration. It was he who chose to send us to the Moon.

His blunders in the Bay of Pigs fiasco and at the Vienna Summit led to the Soviet recklessness of placing nukes in Cuba...which gave JFK a chance to redeem himself (by risking nuclear war )

He and LBJ teamed up to push through the greated civil rights legislation since Reconstruction.
