I used to be really into his music a few years ago. Now I listen to alot more prog house (Hernan Cattaneo, Deep Dish, Martin Garcia, Wally Lopez), but still enjoy Tiesto.
My favourite Tiesto album is "In Search of Sunrise Vol. 3," largely because of the absolutely mindblowing track 13: Way Out West - Mindcircus (Gabriel & Dresden Remix).

For some strange reason he bought an apartment in Vilnius... The developer was abusing this fact to death.

I think Tiësto plays what would be called "kiksu" here in Finland and that indeed is cheesy. Not that I've heard a lot of his music but melodic trance is cheesy a priori.
cheesy is too tame a word to describe him. anyway im not into trance, im into ghetto tech

You listen to ghettotech and think trance is too cheesy?

its cheesy in a completely different way, which I find fun.

he's produced a lot of great tracks in his time and it's hard to deny that he has done a huge amount for the trance scene in the last 10 years (before that, he used to make hardcore records!). unfortunately he has, like many other big name producers, fallen in to the trap of thinking that he is a superstar, rather than concentrating on making good tracks. this means too many vocals, too many sodding appearances at disneyland and sadly too few good ideas anymore.
he's done some awesome stuff in the past, his magik cds (1-7) are essential for any trance fan, and the only place to get the allure tracks that never saw a vinyl release. ISOS is ok as well, but seems to have become a compilation of dull prog recently, although that said i quite enjoyed the last one.
he's fairly hit and miss live, i've seen him several times. last year i saw him do an amazing 6 hour set which was full of energy and vigour, including about 90 minutes of banging tech-trance, during which i couldn't id a single track , he kept it going for a long time, flowing brilliantly and throwing in the odd classic when you least expected it. by contrast his set at creamfields this year was really uninspired, it's bad enough having to put up with paul van dyk playing time of our ****ing lives whenever he performs, but for tiesto to close a mediocre set with adagio for strings is just too much.

Yeah he does "kiksu" alright. Not a big fan. Too cheesy like said here, however, not a hater either. If it's between Tiesto and Dicksy Chicks, I'll choose Tiesto every single time.
Seen him live too some years back.

QFT. His "Just Be" and "Nayla" albums are cases in point
