      No, they all are.

Ancient bars like Lulu's in a small town full of young people may go out of business, but it's not fair to blame this law and then use it as an example across the world at how evil banning smoking in bars is.

Yep. Lulu's was quite established with a considerable customer base.

If you wanna smoke, go outside. Better yet, grow a pair and stop doing something you know is stupid.
Peolple should be free to be stupid.

Does this apply to only things legal drake?

        Of course.

If business alone choose to ban smoking on the premises, they put themselves at a distinct business disadvantage compared to their competitors. Smokers would not go to the bar, they would go to others.

On the other hand, people who don't want to be around smokers would go to the bar that banned smoking. If anti-smoking laws are really as popular as you claim, that should be a significant amount of people...

Smoking has to do with my individual rights.
Sex, has to do with more than my individual rights.
No one is going to throw me down and hump me over being turned on by my smoking.

Will you make the same claim over public sex in a drinking establishment, or will you be content to blame the provoked? Let me guess.

Smoking has to do with the rights of everyone around you, who have not consented to you lighting up your cigarette.

Sex has to do with the rights of you and your consensual partner only.

Smoking harms non-participants, sex does not (unless you have a hell of a shot... )

In Canada we have a public healthcare system, which is why in Canada especially there's really no argument in favor of allowing people to do stupid things that harm the health of Canadians around them...

I have news for you, that's how your rights disappear.

You have the right to go somewhere else. So go.

And if everyone around me consents?

edit (x-post): So now we trot out the public healthcare argument.

                      1. Can I opt out?
                      2. Do we stop all nonessential activities liable to cause strain on the healthcare system?

But that's not feasible, people tend to go to local bars or those within the proximity. You know it makes no sense to drive across town to go to the one non-smoking bar.

So, by this reasoning, people should be allowed to:

                          1) Masturbate in a bar
                          2) Have sex in a bar
                          3) Defecate in a bar
                          etc?

If people don't like it they can leave?

Isn't that a shame that the non-smoker has to be inconvenienced a little, so that the business owner can conduct business?

If non-smoking bars are popular, more of them would be created. That's how the market works...

No, that's not feasible. What we can do is stop useless activities that knowingly harm people around the person who chooses to do them, with or without their consent.
