  • Vote!

This is election day in the USA.
Vote. Not a straight ticket like some brain-dead drone.
If you don't know the candidates, you can still learn at this late date.

You owe it to the country, you owe it to yourself.
Get off your duff, and go vote.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

If you let Quebec vote, you'd have laws such as forcing Spanish to have equal realestate on advertising as English.

I vote absentee, so I no longer get one of those. I feel left out. Maybe if I pasted on a postage stamp or somethin' it would help.

Why are high voting rates considered good? This isn't an American specific question because I know you furriners have mandantory voting laws.

Ummm, better representation of what the public wants?

It shows that the public cares to participate. That can, depending on your outlook, mean:

                        a) democracy is blooming! Yay!

                        b) the people still believe in the system, so no need to worry about a revolution anytime soon.

                        As for mandatory participation... meh.

If people are too stupid to have an opinion or get motivated to vote willingly, why should we be encouraging them to vote?

Why should we encourage anyone to do anything, Dino?

Because our ancestors didn't leave bloody footprints in the snow at Valley Forge just so I could be the only one to show up at the polls. Do you really want me running the country?? I think not!
