Because our on-topic community isn't nearly as lively as theirs.

Alexa rating measures views from all forums and sub-forums... if you're saying that more 3 times more people use CFC, I agree with you. I'm not sure if Colon does.

We need more spam to compete with CFC...

I registered 2000 as Squonk. I wanted to register back in 1999 or even 8, but I was denied for my mailbox didn't fit Poly's requirements

Seeing as CFC is largely populated by 15 year-olds posting crap, why should we care about their postcount?

It doesn't, but then again neither does the entire 'poly OTF, and yet we keep coming back.

I found 'poly while working on a CivII scenario (2nd Age of middle earth, inspired by the awesome 3rd Age LotR scenario with the ring as a nuke carried by an invisible frodo [land submarine]). As soon as I poked around, I found out that CivIII was near release. My scenario never got close to finished, and I became both a CivIII and 'poly junkie. Registration was in July of '01, but I'd been lurking for a least a few months by then.

I want to say again how much Firaxis pissed me off with Civ 3. I think I threw it away.

To each their own. I enjoyed it a great deal, even with its flaws, especially since a lot of effort was put into patching it. Yes, in theory games shouldn't come with bugs, but they all do, no matter how much testing is done. CivII had all sorts of bugs and design flaws, you know.

                              Here's why.

ACS did away with Civ 2 MP League and Tribes, (Shut up, TCO ) in advance.

Firaxis rushed it out in time for Christmas, as SP. SP sucks. Even as SP, it required an uimmediate 75 mb patch.

MSN Game Zone had a room dedicated to Civ MP. With the introduction of SP 3, and in anticipation of a flocking to CIV 3 SP, they ended the room. After that, it just made it harder to set up MP games.

CFC was going to set up League and Tribes there, and I was involved. When Civ 3 came out, they blew it all off, and wasted time I had invested.

I carry a grudge; and Firaxis, IMO, screwed over MP and were out for a quick buck.
