Actually they didn't go first for the Jews (if it's about putting people in KZs, as Niemöller was himself later). /smartass

Can anyone point out to me one DAY in history that there wasn't a war going on somewhere? I doubt it.

Unless you count somalians killing each other constantly for years as a war, then, for all the 90´s there was at least 1 war going on

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Oh come on Horsie. Peace is everywhere. It's ubiquitous. When was the last time you lobbed a hadgrenade into your neighbor's yard? Obviously the world has come around full circle and it's time for a little head bashing. Get with the program.

For me, it depends on how narrow you want to define "grenade".

WW1 and WW2 shocked people a bit, but the generation that experienced it is almost gone. We should be reverting to our typical behavior about, say, 5 years ago.

Too bad that you'd be hard-pressed to find any war of the last ~2000 years that doesn't involve God.
