    1. Things have changed from those days and 2 Obama isn't going to run in2008. He's too young and inexperienced. He knows it. I think he's jockying to be VP.

In 1999, the media had already decreed that Bush would be the next Pres. In 2003, the media decided that Kerry was going to be the Dems nominee. The elections were formalities.

Actualy you mean the Primaries AND the general election were formalities.

I agree this is little more then a name recognition poll, without the key "are they going to run or not" question firmly desided its incredibly vaporous.

Lets atleast speculate on some simpler questions.

Will one or both parties have a lot of new faces in its primary?

How will the outcome of the upcoming mid-term elections effect who runs?

When will the race realy get going? (my guess is Novermber 8th)

Okay, in the spirit of the project, some predictions:

Frist won't run. Giuliani won't run. Gingrich won't run. Clark won't run against Hillary (but could be her choice for veep).

For all his problems in this election, George Allen will run anyway, at least for a little while. Mike Huckabee will run and do better than anybody expects. And if Hillary, for whatever reason, says no by mid-2007, either Bill Richardson or Ed Rendell will run with the backing of the Clintons.

I agree. Hillary...oh God. I don't want to even think about it.

Look, I don't think she'd be a particularly good president either, but the USA will go kaboom? Come on. Unless you're talking about the Religious Right having a collective "Scanners"esque moment.

It doesn't matter who it is as far as Kaboom.
I've already said I think the next prez will get a similar welcome to what Bush got. If that's right, then who do you want making decisions?

I'm not a big Hillary fan, but I'm honestly puzzled by this response from people. She's competent, moderate (yes, she is), and likely to surround herself with a diverse group of advisors (as Bill did) rather than living in an echo chamber like W. She'd actually be a better president than any Dem on the OP list, except maybe Bayh. I can get not liking her personally, but I don't see what there would be to fear from a Hillary presidency.

I'd much rather have her than Bush, that's for damned sure. I'd lean towards McCain theoretically in that situation, though I don't think he'll get the nomination.

I'd vote for McCain with Giuliani. Big G might not want to run for prez, but I can see him taking veep.

PROBABLY, Hillary wouldn't be as bad as I think. Hopefully.

I still wish Colin Powell had/would do something.
It would shake things up if it were he and Connie Rice.

I think Powell is too disillusioned with politics to even consider running.

Which, ironically, would make him the perfect candidate. What a system we have.

Powell and Rice? You think the good ole boys are ready for it?

Maybe one or the other, not both though...;O)
