Muhammad was war like and criminal. When muslims themselves use Muhammad to justify terrorism it is stupid to get angry when a newspaper makes fun of them for doing so.

I agree with Carsten Juste that anything short of a clear acquittal would have been a horrible blow to freedom of the press in Denmark.

In related news we've suffered a dramatic blow on something called the Press Freedom Index, falling from first place to joint 19th on par with Bosnia and Trinidad... but I'm kind of having difficulties taking that list seriously.

Yes, I absolutely agree. It was nice to see that any fears to the contrary proved to be unfounded.

The cartoons probably were meant to offend, but I'm having trouble how someone files a libel suit on behalf of someone long dead. Could someone explain that? I'm also interested in how a country claiming to have free speech has a racism and blasphemy law?
