    Q-Cubed, have you actually used Steam? Would you recommend it? Sounds like you need an internet connection open to Steam to even play Civ IV single player version after having payed full price for the game. Is that right?

      I've used Steam before--I have Half-Life 2.

      I've been able to play HL2 without an internet connection, though to be honest, I can't imagine not having even a weak internet connection at all.

        You can use Steam to download something, and then never connect to the internet again and be fine..
