  • Is it worth it to care about people?

So I'm hurt again (by a woman of course). I'm not going into it this time. Hold the applause. Long story short, I just saw a woman self destruct and ruin her life, and I couldn't do anything about it despite all my efforts.

I really don't seem any happier with friends and girlfriends. I'm thinking about forgoing the whole route and just being completely independent. Yes I know I'll have no one to care for me in my old age, but that's what my money is for. I'll be able to find a nursing home and play civ 16 in that nursing home. .

I get enough social interaction I think from my coworkers. What I do I really need love and caring for?

And in as a postrcipt. I am truelly, absolutely finished with women this time.

I think you and Provost Harrison should start a club.
Get Oerdin. Hell there's lot of them out there saying, "No mas".
Y'all could build a big treehouse. Meet up there and ignore the Hell out of them.
NO WIMMIN, painted on the outside.

You have had more going on on the woman front than I have had for the last year.

At the current rate of Civ releases you'll never survive until Civ 16.

if all your problems are with women, maybe you ought to date men instead.

            Caring can hurt

Love doesn't, it just means sharing warmth.

I've loved some pretty f***** up people, some who I knew were going to kill themselves with drugs. I kept a decent distance, and know that I made their lives a little better.

IMHO, your pain comes when you expect them to heal beyond their willingness.

On the other hand a decent guy I knew was about to drink himself to death, he stoped, because he knew. Sometimes people will surprise you.

Play lots of civ, so you can share your enjoyment of life with them, but Dis, expect them to stay pretty much as they are.

yeah it's a lesson I have learned. Not everyone can be saved from themselves.

There are also some situations that are so bad, it makes it harder to make a convincing argument for staying away from drugs.(Go to Part 9) This article is just the tip of an iceberg I'm working on, and I'm not even suggesting to some of my drug abusing friends that they change until this does.

Sorry to hear this Dis. Don't give up on them. All this trouble your having will just make it so much more special when it finally happens.

And in trying to make it happen, I hope that you realize that you do live in one of the most self destructive cities in the world (figuritvely people, no need to bring up Iraq). There is a reason it's called sin city.

"Sin City" - There are plenty of reasons to rebel against the abuses of the world, but to become that self indulgent without boundries wreaks even more havock.

Unfortunately, sin city has how become selfish city too, it's now illegal to feed the homeless. Ego is becoming manditory!
