The Freedom of Religion provision of the Bill of Rights is a tricky one. Individuals have the freedom of religion
, but the government does not 
. The problem is that the government is made up of individuals.
One court decision is pretty much correct, that government workers can wear relgious symbols (e.g. crucifixes, yamakas, Sihk turbans Islamic scarves) to conform to or express their own religious beliefs but can't put plaques etc. on government walls because that would be seen as a government endorsement of a religion.
A problem that is on the horizon but hasn't really been deal with yet is the Christian directive to proselytize. In some instances, this could be construed as religious or even anti-gay harassment by co-workers or by the public.Comment
