I just installed IE7 on an old laptop, and the browser is slow to scroll through my Gmail. I don't really understand why that is. I know how it could be the "AJAX." Whatever it is, this is very discouraging, since that's almost my only use for IE, to check Gmail in something other than Opera (where I have a lot of tabs open).

Does anyone know a way to get mouse gestures for IE7? Is there a plugin? Is it already there? I can't live without mouse gestures.

Should I not be using it then

I'll stick to Opera/FF for now...
Did you install Opera's security patch that came out today? You know, for that apparently invulnerable browser?

I guess when I tried initially, they were integrating with malware patch. It's now 1 dl.

I'll bet $100,000 FireFox will still pwn IE.

I'll still use Firefox, but I still have to use IE in a number of cases. So an improved IE is a good thing.

Yeah well, something about Updates and/or 7 messed me up. I restored back past them, and all is working.

This had nothing to do with browser issues. Maybe one of the Net updates. But's it's all gone now, and all is well.

Well, I just installed IE7 and I hate to say this but the font rendering is excellent

From the brief glimpse I had, it did look good.

Ex Firefox fan here now. I guess noone forced me to use the betas but after I switched to a dual-core processor firefox was extremely unstable, maybe 3 hours till it crashed, maybe it would crash instantly. That's with firefox beta RC1, 2 and 3.

Now using IE7 and I'm honestly quite impressed, I prefer the way it handles tabs and it seems to use less memory with lots of tabs open (firefox would frequently be using over 200mb for me).

I'm already missing the spellchecking from firefox, and I prefer firefox's favourites menu rather than clicking the favourites button in ie to open a sub-window. But it's stable and that's the main thing right now for me!

As soon as all the mal-ware and junk starts targetting IE7 I'll probably junk back though, but only if firefox resolves the stability/memory usage.

                              Is IE7 dual core optimized?

                                Microsoft

I'm running Vista RC1 and consequently can't upgrade to the full release of IE7, but the version on Vista is pretty cool, they've certainly got their act together and produced a pretty decent product.

I'm still using Firefox 2 RC3 and I can imagine I'll continue to use Firefox because of extensions and the Bookmarks toolbar (seems odd that IE7 lacks this), but it's good to see some competition. We can expect future releases of Firefox, Opera and IE to be of a much higher quality as a result which can only be good for the consumer, regardless of what browser you use.
