Manslaughter, premeditated murder, etc. That's for a court to decide.

Uhm, at what point are you guys actually gonna study Judaism, and not assume you can understand it from a literal (but, oddly, translated) reading of the Hebrew Scriptures?

BTW, of course the OLD Testament exists only in Christianity. In Judaism its an ETERNAL covenant. Nothing "old" about it.

I also had NYE and Oerdin in mind when I said "you guys" = and yeah, Im sure they realize Jews dont go around killing gays, but they could well think thats cause of some modern "Reform" thing. I doubt they know that in the Mishnah, (IE in Roman times) theres a debate on whether the death penalty for MURDER should be used more than once a generation.

There really do seem to be people who picture ancient Jewish society based on a quasi-literalist reading of the bible, and assume that it was all liberalized by Jesus.

Thank you, LOTM, for teaching us shame. We do know, after all, that no Jew would ever write about another culture while knowing nothing of how it actually worked .

As pointed out, if she was killed during a domestic argument, it could be deemed voluntary manslaughter (killing in the heat of passion) rather than murder.

Im not trying to teach anyone shame. Im just tired of the "Jesus changed that awful OT, if it wasnt for him wed all be stoning people" line. Something that is implicit in the thinking of both many christians and many non-christians.

If youre troubled by the portrayal of blacks in sitcoms, post a thread about it. Note well, I was not refering to NYEs or Oerdins religion or ethnicity in criticising their posts. Why would the religion of a sitcom producer matter? Of course Jews have written idiocy. Whats the relevance of that?

Thanks, Sloww. Wait, is that a compliment in Texan? Idunno; given the importance you people seem to assign to red meat, you could be saying that like steak sauce I am an unimportant additive to any properly-done troll...

Actually, there's much truth to that statement.

Consider the number of crazy Christians who take the Bible (including the Old testament, since we're talking about Christians) literally. Now, imagine what these crazies would be like if they hadn't that "love thy neighbour" divine command
