You know what, a strange thing. I have a friend from Indian studies (well, 2), and he's spent a year in India. Recently I've met him, and asked him why Bangladesh is so muslim compared to neighbour regions. he could not answer. Yet, strangely I was forced to attend an international conference concerning boarders of empires lately, and I got just the answer.

I'm from the South (the city of Bangalore).

As far as I'm concerned, I view Indian culture as a healthy syncretion, and that it's benefitted from the various invasions and stuff that we've had - including the Aryans, Kushans, Parthians, Mughals, and British. We took those guys in, and (I guess apart from the British), sort of made them our own.

But I'm sure aneeshm would disagree with me
