  • Chicago help and America's Got Talent

This seems to be the year for auditions for me. I'm going to go to Chicago on October 28, 29-30 to try out for America's Got Talent. I'm well past the 29 year old age limit for American Idol so......this is about the only other option for me. I know nothing about Chicago, where everything is etc. The auditions are at Navy Pier 600 East Grand Ave. Chicago, Il 60611. So anyone from Chicago or know it? Where is this in realtion to the airport and what is a reasonably priced hotel there? Is this Navy Pier to far for a cab ride from the airport? And on the hotel, I mean very reasonable, still looking for a job and we are on a very tight budget.

I may bomb and fall on my face and they may hate me but at least I will have tried.

Thanks. I was a voice student in college and was on the road for performing but my mom died when I was 19 and pretty much threw my world into a tail spin. It's taken me this long to get it back on track and figure out what I want to do, so I'm going for it! And I'm not bad if I do say so myself!!

May be going to Los Angeles instead don't know until I hear back from my cousin. He lives in LA. a producer and it would be lovely not to have to incurr hotel expenses as well as my other cousin lives there. I can see both of them. Her husband designed the set for Spiderman 2 and they are currently working on Spiderman 3. Maybe I can steel some set material! Plane tickets are the same for both cities and one of them I can stay for free! Free is always good.

Then go for LA... get some sun too, fun in the sun!

Think about it though, you should really do this. If they decide to show your performance, even if you don't make it further, you would be an inspiration to many other people who left some things behind they wanted to do or try, so maybe few of those people get up and try their stuff as well.

                            hahaha, nice!

I don't have any autographs from pornstars.. I've seen few live though. We have this big exhibition, we used to go there with a big crowd of guys (of course), so we saw.. brittany andrews, who was FIIIIINE then, we saw her CLOSE UP!! Like say, less than 50cm from the place where babies come out.

Then we saw.. well let's just say we've seen people

But no Hartley.. She was here couple of years ago but we haven't gone there for years now. Some of the dudes are now married and stuff. So basically we only have renegade pron freaks left.

If you do come to Chicago there are plenty of Poly folks who can give you advice, such as myself

Sir Ralph, Navy Pier is an amusement park; the Navy used to be stationed here to protect us indeed from the Canucks, some of the great naval battles of 1812 happened in the Lakes. We are also one of the major training grounds for the Navy, a bit north of us (Great Lakes Naval Base or somesuch) but not at Navy Pier.

Tiamat, if you stay in a hotel, your best bet for 'near Navy Pier' is the Best Western River North (or is it River East, I forget), it's a few blocks away and not horribly expensive. I think it's on Ontario and Dearborn, or thereabouts. Otherwise if you want cheaper, stay in the suburbs and take the Metra (commuter rail) in to the city for the audition (but then you don't get to stay downtown...)

Navy Pier is basically in the middle of the shopping district, and then east a few blocks...

The two airports are Midway and O'Hare. If you're flying in on Southwest or a budget airline, you'll probably go to Midway. That is in the south-west of Chicago, about 10 miles south and 8 miles west of Navy Pier. It does however have somewhat more reasonably priced hotels than downtown; you could stay there and take the train (Orange Line) to downtown and get quite close to the Pier (about three blocks).

O'Hare is more expensive, both hotel and transit, it also has a train going to it but it's further out (it's in a north-west suburb) and as it's the Businessman's Airport it has more expensive hotels. I suggest Midway either way, cheaper airfare and cheaper hotels.

I'd offer to let you stay here, but we only have a one bedroom apartment for two people, and we're nowhere near navy pier (not far from midway, actually)...

                              Either way good luck
