Rep. Bob Ney pleads guilty to bribery

Another Republican Congressmen has found himself caught up in bribery and scandel. This time is is the Republican Congressman from Ohio who has plead guilty to accepting bribes from the Republican money man Jack Abramoff. Reportedly, Ney was hoping to ride out the storm and the Republican leadership originally didn't want him to resign for fear of losing the seat but as the evidence mounted the Republican leadership cut Ney loss telling him to either resign or be expelled from Congress.

They're trying to sweep a lot of crap under the rug and get it out of the papers before the election (remember when Randy "Duke" Cunningham wanted to ride out the storm and the Republican leadership basically told him to plead guilty to get that scandal to go away?) but it is questionable that if this will work one month before the election. This makes two major scandals for the Republicans in one week with two Congressmen forced to resign.

WASHINGTON - Congressman Bob Ney has pleaded guilty to bribery charges in the Jack Abramoff influence-peddling scandal.

The Ohio Republican becomes the first member of Congress to plead guilty or be convicted in the scandal that has tainted the White House as well as Capitol Hill. He faces up to ten years in prison.

My guess is Ney will get kiddy treatment and won't see the full 10 years in prison that he deserves. It would be refreshing if he did though.

I'd like to know what has been proved against him. As opposed to Neys and Cunningham who have both been convicted of bribery. Or of course the good former speaker who was such a ****bag that his own party ditched him.

I will make no bones about it, I would defend a corrupt Democrat any day of the week. The day Drake and skywalker and DinoDoc admit they too are partisan hacks, the OTF will be a better place.

I think the rest of us in the thread aren't partisan hacks and they're just waiting for sure until he is convicted. But if I lived in LA I'd vote for the guy even if he was in jail.
