A bit more anti-Codie this one. But then again the M.E.N. are of the soft-left Guardian school of journalism.

A TEENAGE girl was questioned by police after allegedly making a racist remark to Asian students in the classroom.

It's also in in the Daily Express.

The trouble is, if we take all newspapers as their characature, we wouldn't read any of them.

i went to a school where most of the kids were ethnic minority and a lot couldn't speak english. it's crap being put with people who can't even speak the language, but this girl's treatment sounds about par for the course.

Seeing as the likes of The Grauniad have done their utmost to create an atmosphere where the police are encouraged to spend their time arresting 14 year old schoolgirls, rather than go after criminals, its not surprising that they prefer to avoid such stories.

Meanwhile, the Mirror today leads on the English teacher who insists on wearing a veil in class, despite the fact that the kids can't see her mouth - obviously essential for the kids trying to learn english.

The school are trying to get her to take the veil off in class but the stupid b1tch is whining "help help I'm being repressed by evil racists" when she's the one that is putting her own up-her-arse identity politics above the needs for these children to learn english.

I agree, it is getting a bit silly - if people cannot speak English in an English-speaking country then they shouldn't be able to gain employment and should have more specially geared education. I wouldn't expect otherwise in another country. It definitely sounds like political correctness out of control...and people not knowing what racism actually is - this actually goes further to damaging race relations than advancing them.

You know, that's technically an ad hominem attack. Just because you can attack the source doesn't make the argument (or statement) here. The burden is not on the news source - it is on you to decide how high the standards of acceptability have to be. However, it is a logical fallacy to say that you should ignore an argument or story completely, just because of a particular source.

Why isn't there a minimum standard of English required by these students to learn in an english speaking school?
