  • So long, Ed.

THE legendary animator behind The Flintstones has died age 94.

Ed Benedict passed away at the end of August but his longtime friend and co-animator David K Sheldon has only just revealed the news.

Sheldon said: "He was quite an interesting fellow, that's for sure. He was the main character designer for all the early Hanna-Barbera cartoons, Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound and Quick Draw McGraw."

But Benedict was most famous for designing the main characters in The Flintstones - Fred Flintstone and his pal Barney Rubble, as well as their wives Wilma and Betty.

    You gave us many chuckles.

I recently got several DVDs and tapes of classic HB stuff, much of it Ed's work. Fun, funny stuff.

Didn't Wilma say bollocks on the Flintstones once?

Since when are those "early" Hanna-Barbera cartoons?

Back in those days EVERYTHING had to be done by hand. Truly it took a real artist.
