      Da Cheech Man.

One of the best steak houses around here. In a league with Morton's, Chamberlain's and Cattleman's.

Ruth's Chris. New Orleans small chain steakhouse like Morton's. Moved to Orlando after Katrina. My sister's brother-in-law worked in finance there until a couple of months ago.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

The top chain restaurant steak houses have to be Ruth's Chris and Morton's but I got the best steak of my life at Donovan's Steak House.

There once was a place in New Orleans, they called the Chris Steak House. Then a lady named Ruth bought it, and it became Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

Ruth's Chris sucks. It's overpriced, improperly cooked, and you face third degree burns if you happen to touch the plate.

What do you mean improperly cooked? A good steak is supposed to be on the rare side. If you want a well done steak then you might as well just boil it because all the flavor is gone.

Maybe I missed it but I dont recall saying anything about the steak's "doneness".

Unfortunately, I was forced to eat at one far too many times while entertaining visiting scientists. Ruths Chris is
nothing more than a fast-food steak house for those with more money than taste. Too many americans seem to equate cost with quality. Throw a steak on a plate with some butter, flash cook it, then serve it immediately. The faster the customers get their steak the sooner they're out the door so other suckers can be sat down at the trough. Perhaps the 'chefs' have never heard of resting the meat after cooking! Its only one of the most basic elements of meat preparation. Of course if they waited then they wouldnt have the show of warning everyone how hot everything is (well no ****, it just came out of a 1800 deg oven one minute ago). After all if its red hot it must be good!

                        Bah!

I would have to agree... There are many EXCELLENT steakhouses in Chicago, and Ruth's Chris is one of the best. Gene and Georgetti or the Chop House are as good if not better
