  • Interesting Computer Question

    Well, interesting to me anyway..

Two Computers: 1 is an HP packaged deal, the other a home-made PC (parts put together).

Currently I am using the HP one, and my colleague is using the home-made one. I want to swap the computers around, but the problem is that all our files need to be swapped as well.

I was thinking, what if I just swap the HDD instead of transfering the files via the network? Would Windows XP not accept that and screw everything up?

Unless you do pirate things, I believe you would have to reactivate both computers.

no, email is not going to be feasible.

It's the reactivating I am worried about, oh well, I guess I will just have to do the transfer thing.

        thanks.

Another thing which could be done is,
to have a third HDD (aside from those built into both of the computers)

i.e. both of the computers have their own HDD where their OS is located and for storage of the data you want to swap around you use a third HDD (without Operating system).

I used this system with a friend when we were working on our diploma thesis.
Both of us had the same HDD Drawer System, so swapping HDDs was easy and therefore we just had top carry the Drawer Data HDD to the computer were we would do our work to use all of the our data on this PC
