They should have done what the Rumanians did to Ceauscescu - put him in front of a firing squad straight away and then moved on to reconstructing the country. Now the US and Iraqi governments can't win whatever they do with him.

Unfortunately the US has been installing "friendly" regimes in various countries around the world for over a century and few of them have lasted very long. You'd think US politicians would have learnt either not to try or how to do it right by now. Apparently not.
