  • I am now a *nix guru

About 2 months ago Acrobat Reader stopped working on my work computer. Today I managed to:

    1) Install the Linux version, forcing the install to happen in my home directory (which is the only one I have write access to)
    2) Run the install script for the browser plugin
    3) Add the installation directory to my path in my .login file (in order to allow my browser to find Acrobat Reader)
    4) Fix a bug being caused by a plugin created by IDL (by deleting the plugin)

And all that in only 2 hours

Or.. you're now a huge nerd?

Nah. I'd go with the guru
    In da butt.

That's good, KH, but does it quite make you a guru? How are your sed, grep and awk skills? And regular expressions, are they up to speed?

            Son?

Get a bit older, kid, before using that kind of language. I was being sarcastic too, nipper.

Currently I am not given the root password on my computer.. because the last time I had it I managed to delete the Kernel.

Haha I did that just yesterday. It was funny, I rebooted the computer (a one-platine box) and cursed because it didn't come up (it doesn't have a display). Then I thought a bit about my last actions and ... ... goddamn I deleted the kernel (along with a number of other files). It wasn't a disaster, just burn a new flash and move along.
