  • Contest: 14 years of change

I decided to cash in a bucket of change accumulated over a 14 year period. The bucket was raided for laundry quarters on an irregular basis, so it was almost entirely dimes, nickels, and pennies.

The total weight of coins was 52 lb 11¼ oz (that's 3.765 stone for those more accustomed to SI )

    Edit: bad math

Guess how much this treasure haul was worth!

    5000 bucks.

edit: since the picture attached in the original post is not of the stockpile in question, my guess is 462.91 US$.

Hint: it would not cover a month's rent.

If the content is exactly 33% dimes, 33% pennies and 33% nickels, it's roughly worth 462$ 91¢. Then again, there are some quarters and it looks like there are more dimes than pennies. And on the other hand, you also have to remember that the mass of the bucket itself is probably around 1kg and that there is some dust and dirt on and in the coins. I think Cmrd. Tassadar will win.

No. The mass of the plastic bucket is not included.

You mean it's less than $400? That means >40% of the content is pennies. I demand larger screenshots.

The picture is one swiped off a website selling foreign coins by the pound. I have no pictures of my precious hoard.
