Didn't they make a point about losing a couple of screws while they were on their mission? I don't think there are tons of garage in orbit, in the 2,000 pounds per ton sense. There is a lot of debris, but it's little stuff mostly, dangerous given the speed all this stuff is going, but not weighing a whole lot.

We just have to invent a big Orbitovac (TM) which goes round the earth scooping up junk, trying not to eat satellites, and relaying communications in its spare time.
