The easiest way is a simple proxy, which works for most companies.
For more advanced systems, you need to use THEIR proxy to get on the internet. That's what I have at work.
Then it requires something more sophisticated -- I use a Firefox extension called FoxyProxy to automatically detect when a page is blocked, then connects to my home PC via SSH (which is encrypted so they can't snoop or even see what website it is, or if it's web traffic atall). My PC then fetches it and sends it to the work PC, encrypted.
