        You can also do a barbell shoulder press (sitting up)

        There a lot of things you can do with either (bench, shoulder, rows etc)

            I usually go with dumbells since for some reason my muscles seem to get worked out better when I'm using them, but that could be mostly in my head.

            The only thing I use machines for is lat pulldowns (don't know how to do something equivalent with free weights) and seated row (since my dumbell incline row form sucks, can't keep my back straight).

              I guess I could give dumbbells a try for my shoulders, arms, and chest. What type of exercise should I do with these, for chest muscles?



              I will continue to use machines though for buttocks and legs.

                    Ok, and when you do bench pressing with dumbbells, do you alternate working just one arm at a time? Or do you do both? Can either way work just fine?

                        • Dumbbell flys are a bit of a waste of time.

                          I would concentrate mainly on the compound exercises. If you think you're leaving something out you can throw in an isolated exercise at the end to catch it.

                                They're hard to do right (with a barbell) and not so useful if done wrong. I've done em with up to 315 lbs on a barbell (not strict but the dynaic motion was good training for the start of my deadlift) but nowadays I stick with T-bar rows instead.
                                We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI
