None of the Conservatives, the Liberals, the NDP, nor the Greens would ever dare support Quebec independence. It would mean immediate and utter destruction everywhere outside of Quebec, and there too since the ground is already claimed.

However, if you feel 'pro-French' aims include bilingualism, or multiculturalism, you are best to look up... I don't know who would campaign agianst those concepts.

I am not against bilingualism. Indeed bilingualism would imply that our stops signs would actually say: "Stop" instead of just saying "Arret" and other things like that.

The emergency vehicles only sign posted next to a closed street could use an English version too... Mom's boyfriend was driving at the time and he doesn't speak French. Had there been some actual penalty for ignoring that sign... this might have been more of an issue.

That's a battle for provincial politics.

In many other parts of the country you will not see Arret on a stop sign.

A summary of Canadian politics eh.

Based on what my parents tell me (since they still live in Vancouver for some reason) I'd have to say that the whole thing can be best described as 2 or 3 parties of politically correct bleeding-heart liberal (small l) socialists who pretend they are different from one another while trying to declare Canada a cradle to grave "nanny-state" that knows whats best for its jejeune citizens.

Of course I havent personally lived there for many many years so one has to take my 'parents' opinion with a grain of salt.
We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

Growing bipolar political fanatacism toward either failed left-wing ideologies, irreligious mania, and 'political correctness' or right-wing ideologies, religious mania, and insincerity. Both poles are motivated by an intense irrational hatred of any idea deemed to have arisen from the other pole. Despite governmental power, neither pole alone nor both together are representative of the vast majority of American citizens and as a result there is a vast growing disillusionment with the increasing ineffectiveness of anything resembling a 'government'.

Thats according to my mum (of course).

Who could believe that stop signs are written in the language of the majority?

There are many places in Canada where there are signs in French too although there are only insignifant numbers of French people there. Here there are sufficient numbers of both English and French people, it would make sense to have signs in both languages at least in downtown.

You're in for a rude awakening about the true nature of the national question in Quebec. Good luck!
