And yet again, Bush demonstrates that he, himself is a greater danger to the values, beliefs, and ideals that our nation was founded upon than the terrorists he claims to be wanting to protect us from.

Yet again, our President demonstrates that he could not do more harm to this country if he was on Bin Laden's payroll.

Why CAN'T we impeach this guy??

We began proceedings against Clinton for lying about sex in the Oval Office. Is this....the lies immediately following 9/11 up to this latest attempt...is this not orders of magnitude worse, or am I missing something?

You seem to be implying that a choice must be made..

Wallace would have said there was no choice, Ben Franklin would have said there was no choice...

I say there's no choice, too. I also say that many people "want to have their cake and eat it too".
I'm saying, to remain moral, we'll take more casualties. I don't think that can be disproved.

If we need to suffer more casualties to adhere to moral principles, so be it.

And I admire taking the one position. I can understand both sides of the coin, I just don't see the coin landing on it's edge like many would seem to want.

                        The terrorists have already won.

One of their own got elected to the highest office of the land, and by degrees, he is transforming our nation into something awful.

This is but the latest bit of evidence, and it is easily on par with what we were jawing about Chavez doing in Ven....

Oh...yeah...the secret torture prisons....the ones I swore on a stack of bibles didn't exist? Well...I goofed...they do, and I've known about them all along.

Now...even tho it's illegal, watch my magic trick, okay? Here's some new legislation that will make it all nice and retroactively legal, mmmmmkay?

                        IMPEACH!

We're better than that, or at least that's what we try to tell ourselves and the world.

                        So we have a choice.

Either let's drop the sanctimonious bull$hit right now, or let's live up to the ideals the country was founded on.

As I've said before, those ideals did NOT include secret torture prisons, and they don't include concealing evidence from the accused.

Our founding fathers would be ashamed.

*I* am ashamed, and Bush is no better than a terrorist himself.

As much as I would love to see the country repudiate this ******* by impeaching him, you and I both know it ain't gonna happen.

It would have been interesting to hear what ole Ben would have said today.

"Those who would give up ESSENTIAL LIBERTY to purchase a little TEMPORARY SAFETY, deserve neither LIBERTY nor SAFETY" is a motto on the title page of An Historical Review of the Constitution and Government of Pennsylvania. (1759).

This motto was attributed to Mr. Franklin in the edition of 1812.

In a letter of September 27, 1760 to David Hume, however, Mr. Franklin stated that he published this book and denied that he wrote it, other than a few remarks that were credited to the Pennsylvania Assembly, in which he served.
The oft quoted above and misquoted as below

Those who would give up liberty to obtain security, deserve neither
apparently didn't belong to ole Ben. But even had the first and historically contextual quotation belong to Ben the assertion is qualified by the words Essential liberty and Temporary safety.

Neither here nor there but an interesting little tid bit nonetheless.

                              Much like Machiavelli...

Everyone quotes "It's better to be feared than loved." But when I read the Prince, I distinctly recall him explaining that it's best to be both loved and feared, but if you *must* choose one, go with fear.
