In order to have something worthwile to talk about: it's amazing how companies keep underestimating the power of the internet. Did Starbucks seriously not realize that the coupons could be forwarded ad infinitum?
It reminds me of a case in which a Belgian sandwich franchise started an online quiz with questions about the company. If you'd get all the question right you could win a coupon for a free sandwich. Naturally the correct answers to the questions were posted on every forum in Belgium, which meant everybody could get a free sandwich without effort, multiple times. Needless to say, the quiz didn't last long.

What "valuable lesson"?
That they can't give something free to their employees and families without every whiner in the US coming in to benefit from it as well?

I think she is right in principle, but the sum is ludicrous...I certainly think that for withdrawing an offer like that should meet with a hefty fine...and they should certainly honour their obligations.
