Pekka, you did in fact stir the pot, as it appears you did in fact intend to. Do you have any facts related to your claim? Such accusations are an extremely popular way to undermine public leaders by those unable to face them. However, court cases, arrests, testimony from victims are considerably more difficult to produce than insinuations.

As to Ghandi, I join the celebration of the anniversary of his methods. You are right, however, in noting that they will only work if the target has a concience or a strong sense of justice. Neither the Islamic Jihadists nor the Christian fundamentalists seem to have these qualities, so the methods would probably not work in Iraq.

Well, you can expect your enemy to follow their own code of justice anyway. I don't think you can say that the English had a strong sense of justice though.

"He was a fan of nonviolent resistance against the Nazi's."

We're lucky he wasn't the head of that revolution... or we'd be dead.

Ok here's the deal. I'll leave this thread, and congratulate Ghandi for victory and India for their magnificent nation, nation that I have absolutely nothing against but find it interesting personally in all good ways (just not Ghandi).

If someone wants to debate this, we can create another thread for this. This is fair I think.

This has to be one of the most ignorant things you've ever posted. "I'm not here to stir the pot..." indeed.

                            Gandhi

Succeeding without violence shows true strength of character and courage - resorting to violence (and, more often than not, failing) is the path of the Wuss...

Hence Pekka's wussy arguments to the contrary, with his pathetic opening gambit of "I'm not here to criticise but..." routine.
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?
