I think you all underestimate how much companies value good and bad publicity, and the effect a personal call from someone like Michael Dell (btw, who exactly is he - is this the founder-of-the-company or a relative? either way, the name sounds good for pub). In retail, this is what you do. And Dell is a retail company, so ... Depending on the level of possible negative publicity, you have to go up the ladder and have a more important person do the calling. Manager, General Manager, District Manager, Regional Manager, VP, President/CEO. They all have a point at which they get involved, and apparently Asher's father hit the top (or the second?) level.
