Is it just me or is this equation illogical?
7(x+3)-8=5x+2(x+2)

7x is on both sides? eh?

Is that the whole equation? or did you bring us in halfway through?
If that's the whole equation, then your maths teacher has just pulled random numbers out of thin air and expected them to work (In other words, yes, you need a new teacher)
If it's only halfway through, then you may have gone wrong earlier on.

What is the whole question being asked? I've had plenty of example problems given that were intentionally wrong to prove a point in a given lesson.The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.
