    I like the Yamaha Genesis:

As for the band... I like them on a song-by-song basis. I don't care who was in the band at any given moment, I just like some of their tracks.

I voted for Gabriel and early Collins Genesis. I saw them in '76 or '77, right after Gabriel left. Collins was fantastic, the only problem being that he's a better drummer than he is a singer and he didn't play drums much.
      He's got the Midas touch.
But he touched it too much!

The early prog rock stuff is fantastic. Nursery Cryme was one of my favourite albums as a teen.

That's how it would seem, yes. But just wait, it will all be revealed about halfway through Episode VIII when the real Ben Kenobi gets re-cloned and strikes a deal to publish his memoirs.

If you ever get a chance, go see the Genesis Tribute band "Musical Box", they do an incredible reproduction of Gabriel-era shows..

"This Beatle thing" is about 40 year old music that is still played and listened to all over the world.

Way back when I was the "alternative" type I actually thought that bands like Genesis made really good music. I still have all those albums (vinyl) somewhere around but now, 30 years later, I don't remember exactly what I liked about it. Pompous and pretentious ****. Glad I discovered what Rock and Roll really means. And Sinatra of course...

you're in the process of involution, so you're about to lose, each days, your musical taste... in 20 years, you will listen to Spice Girls and say the same thing to your follow polytubbies than about Beatles.

Comparing Beatles to Genesis is like comparing the Missa Solemnis from Beethoven to the Carmina Burana of Carl Orff; and say that the Missa Solemnis is pompous and pretentious comparing to the Carmina.
