Which means, don't lie in court.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Why should it take court? Why wouldn't your word be good always?
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

Wasn't this the commandment most often used by the kings of Europe to justify their rule? I.e. "Our Father the Tsar"?

Remember, different religions have different Commandments.

In the Catholic, the 5th Commandment is Thou Shalt Not Kill. In the Jewish and Protestant, the 5th Commandment is "Honor thy Father and Mother."

                          Cathechism of Catholic Church
                          SECTION TWO
                          THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

                          CHAPTER TWO
"YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF"

                          ARTICLE 4
                          THE FOURTH COMMANDMENT

Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God gives you.4

                          He was obedient to them.5

The Lord Jesus himself recalled the force of this "commandment of God."6 The Apostle teaches: "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor your father and mother,' (This is the first commandment with a promise.) 'that it may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth."'

                            Bull****? Either you're not a parent, or you're a piss-poor parent. Of course it's a choice. What's your point?

Yeah, well, Uncle Joe never sent me any birthday presents, and he always smelled of vodka at family reunions, so I never paid much attention to what he said.

But number 5 is to honor your father and mother. And this has extra associated with it (that your days may be long upon the earth).
In the days before welfare states etc. the only way mother and father would live to a ripe old age was if their kids looked after them. It's saying, look after your parents and your kids will look after you, therefore giving you a longer happier life.
