I am, unfortunately, a Redskins fan. Can't vote. Sigh.

I'm a Colts fan living in an NFC East area. It's not even close. Roy Williams hits like a linebacker, but he covers like one as well. Sean Taylor is a complete NFL safety at the age of 22. I see Sean Taylor as the NFL's next Brian Dawkins. Roy Williams is the NFL's next John Lynch.

And any team worth its salt would take Dawkins every time.

Sean Taylor has superior physical skills, but is undisciplined and undependable.

With Roy Williams, you know what you're getting, and it's pretty damn good.

            I voted Williams.

Parcells pisses Williams off by calling him "Biscuit". One biscuit away from being a LB.

                    No. A CB got burned.

In pass coverage, safeties exist for the express purpose of helping cornerbacks against the deep ball.

There's a reason why he was back there. He was in deep pass coverage, like safeties normally are. There's also a reason why he got burned - because he's terrible at pass coverage.

Read your expanation, then argue with me. Who had responsibility?
Add to that the fact Williams is a SS. Not FS.

After Sean Taylor gets through a season without being arrested, suspended, injured, or in Gibbs' doghouse, he will be deserving of consideration. It's a team game, and he's a "me" guy.

Just this summer, he's been demoted for missing off-season workouts, plea-bargained a felony weapons charges down to no-contest misdemeanors (narrowly escaping league suspension), and still faces a civil suit.

He's clearly got the skills to be great, but so far he's just another ignorant punk.

Owens is headed for a dose of reality check. Parcells isn't going to play that game.

This video gives a better view of what's going on in each of the touchdowns:

In the first touchdown, we've got Aaron Glenn in man coverage on Moss, with Williams as the deep safety on the strong side of the field, where Moss is lined up. He's responsible for receivers going deep on that side. The Free Safety is on the other side, and he's responsible for the deep ball on the weak side. Don't ask me why the hell Parcells called a cover 2 in that situation, but I digress. The problem is that two strong side receivers went deep, and he chose the wrong one. I can't see who the slot receiver was (I think it might be Cooley split wide) but Williams cheats toward the slot man, and Brunell throws it to Moss and makes Williams and Glenn, both of whom are responsible, look silly. The safety has a natural advantage in that he's far enough back that he can afford to watch the quarterback and see what routes the quarterback is watching. A safety in that situation needs to have either the intuition to pick the right route, or the speed to cover both at the same time. Williams, being a glorified linebacker, has neither.

It's hard to fault him because the Cowboys were playing a cover 2 when they shouldn't have been, though.

The second touchdown is mostly the fault of Williams. In the second play, the Cowboys are in a Cover 4, meaning that four players cover the deep ball, with the field split into quarters. Glenn is responsible for the quarter of the field farthest to the right, and Williams is responsible for the quarter of the field next to Glenn's. Santana Moss starts out as the flanker on the far right, so he's Glenn's problem. But it's a post route, meaning he cuts in towards the middle of the field. And Brunell hit him after he had made his cut, but Williams hadn't picked him up. I think that one has to fault Williams there.
