It turns out the K850i is going to be released in the EU soon (1-3 months) but no release date has been set yet for North America. To bad since it looks like a really sweet phone. Sony Ericsson does offer the W810i in North America which has been out in the EU for about a year now. It is interesting but it is a year behind the LG Chocolate in terms of storage space and advanced engineering.

This really sucks because the S-E K850i looks like a class busting phone which is a step better then everyone else's phones. It looks like one sweet phone.

Check out the Samsung phones, like the SGH-D608.

A friend has the older model SGH-D508. Takes pretty good pics and videos. Has a built in flash. Software is good (unlike the Razr software which sucks the big time). Lots of memory (75mb).

those are your requreiments? Then you are looking at the wrong phones.

Check out Nokia's N91. It has a HD (4gigs), so you can damn well store your mp3s and listen to them, or what ever you want. It's also pretty good.

It seems to be far better then anything on sale in the US right now. 1 GB of memory, a 2 MP camera, a slider design, standard headphone jacks, the Sony walkman style buttons to control music, built in bluetooth wireless connectivity, wireless web surfing, and a nice slider design. About the only thing it doesn't have is built in GPS though I'm not sure if it is a world band phone or not.

How an I get my hands on a US version?

OK, so let's discuse the pros and cons of the various wireless networks. I understand there are two main digital formats CDMA and GSM and some network providers (mainly Sprint I think) still use nondigital cell networks. I'm told that locally the best network, in terms of clearest reception and most coverage with fewest dropped calls, if Verizon which uses CDMA but I notice that just about every phone in Europe is GSM while the Koreans are all GSM and Japanese do both. Which system is better?

I don't know which one is de facto better, but Nokia dropped the CDMA thing for a backseat for a while for some reason.

I don't know about the US, but outside US, it's all about GSM.
