As in, they ALL use IE's proxy settings, not my default browser's proxy settings. I finally ****ing figured out what's wrong with iTunes - I had IE configured to use a (nonfunctional) proxy server I'd been testing. I actually used Ethereal to look at my traffic to try and find the problem

Because non-IE browsers do not provide a standardized way to retrieve or set proxy settings and do not benefit from being built into the OS.

The problem here is that iTunes assumes you use Internet Explorer and does not offer its own proxy configurations.

IE isn't the best but it's easy to DL Firefox and disable IE, the space it takes up is infintessimal.

I like using IE when I need to use a separate browser for something, as it's very lightweight.
